More horse pictures (you'll probably get sick of them eventually)

Took the DSLR with me to see horses yesterday, with mixed results. I got some great shots, but not quite certain how, I'm afraid. The DSLR tends to take what look like overexposed pics, and I can't quite figure out why. I think that a class at the JC is in order.

Anyhow, pics. Lots of daddy, this time. :)

My plan was to see if I could get some really pretty pics of Dancer by the river, but he was not particularly cooperative about stacking up and then staying there while I got far enough away to take the picture. Horses are somewhat difficult to photograph from the side anyway; I remember an article I read a few years ago about problems which apparently stem from the shape of the horse and the ways cameras focus. One end or the other of the horse tends to be a little distorted in most pics because of how long they are. Wish I still had it; I might be able to gain something from it now.

Anyway, Dancer kept following me and sniffing my knee. "I don't know what that weird clicking thing is, but *I* think what you're supposed to be doing is riding me. Not photographing me. Humans are weird." See, this is why I need a helper, and the fancy show halter. Yeah, and I should probably clip him first, too. Eventually.

I finally gave them a bit of hay out in the pasture away from the sturdy but unlovely pipe panels and shelter near where they are usually fed and got some nice side-shots, even if they are exciting shots of a horse....standing there eating. BTW, happy belated birthday, Dancer---he was 4 on the 21st. Still not quite done growing yet, I think. I doubt he'll get any taller (he's a large pony/small horse, triple-registered Appy, Pony of the Americas, and 1/2 Arab) but I think that he will fill out a bit. Equinox, like his parents, should be a small horse.

Again, cliche, but I do live in Sonoma county. Spring growth on a gnarly old vine.

Beautiful creatures. Linden is a beautiful horse!

About the Coyote. When you are shooting fast moving wildlife is when the lens plays a big role! I have had luck with Coyotes at Yosemite this year:

Bey is just sooooo pretty, Dancer too of course and Equinox is still blowing me away. Your moms horse reminds me of one I once knew name Cash. :)

*happy smiles*

How could we get tired of such cute?! :)

BTW, I think I missed it--what breed is he?

PLEASE MORE HORSYPICS!

Dancer still looks like he's got some filling out to do yet, but he's a handsome devil. Of course, being in the same photo set as Bey and Beyby isn't doing him any favors. He's a lovely horse, but every pic of those two looks like it should be in a calendar.

Oh, and I love Linden. What a Thoroughbred face he has. :>

Beautiful! I love Linden's color. Who's the gray?
