Take me to the River, put me in the water...

The weather has been hot, but not unbearably so, and I have found myself filled with the desire to find bodies of water and swim in them. Always natural, of course; fie on swimming pools. The abandoned reservoir behind my house and the two deep pools in the stream leading from it are the perennial favorites; but today, I gave into temptation and went to the Russian River for a good long swim. It isn't hard to escape the people by letting the current of that blessed river pull one downstream. Splashing around, playing in the current and basking on a hot rock are all wonderful things to do. I also saw a huge, exquisite salmon, possibly a young coho (not an adult, if she's in the river this time of year, but getting close to being ready to head seaward, based on her size).

I want to drop my car off in Jenner, where the Russian meets the sea, and then get dropped off back in Gurenville so I can swim/float on the current back to Jenner. Very doable, and tempting me right now.

At the moment, water is definitely my element. What, we side-striped jackals are riparian beasts.

Avalon Rising is playing in Cotati tonight and I look forward to seeing them LOTS. Kinda wish I was going with someone, which is odd, since solitude is my natural state, especially for things like concerts...but since that IS my natural state, I am expecting to have lots of fun...and hey, Avalon Rising=good.

Dang girl! Aren't you afraid of these currents taking you out to sea. :P It's good you are having such fun. You know I should take a drive down to our beautiful lakefront.

Always natural, of course; fie on swimming pools.

Until I saw that second clause, I very much read that sentence as you swimming in openly-viewable bodies of water in the buff.

LOL, well, given my preferences, I had MUCH rather swim in the buff, and maybe if I explored around enough I could find an uninhabited enough bit of the river that could give me the opportunity to do so with my requisite ferocious sense of privacy. Still, my suit top did want to slip off a fair amount...

The mouth of the Russian is wide and fairly calm; I could make it out safely 'fore I got washed out to sea. Yeah, lakefront! water is awesome.
