Eek! I was just tuning and realized the strings had slipped way farther out of tune than is usual, even though I haven't played it in a couple of weeks. So I was tuning up at the pegs, heard a loud 'crack' and assumed I'd popped a string...but no, the bridge was flat. &^%$#@!. So I put it back in carefully, tightened the strings again, and the bridge popped out again.

I don't see any damage to it but it's done it 3 times now and I don't want to risk damaging the thing. This has never happened to me before...I've had a bridge *break* once but never just *refuse to take the pressure of the strings*. At least the soundpost is still up, and I think not out any.

STRESS. Hopefully she just needs to be re-bridged, but I had it done only a couple of years ago. She is a very old violin and cantankerous, and I'm worried, though. Hopefully it will be an easy thing. And thankfully I've a friend who is a violin doctor.

I'm also happy I didn't get rid of my first violin when I got this one, because now I have something to play. It's like visiting an old friend, really, I should play both of them more often.
