OMG where can I sign up?????

It's been a hard couple of weeks for the Jackel, over here. I really, truly think that a fish pedicure would be just the thing to relax me. This would almost be worth a trip to the D.C. area...but come on, I live in *California* for goodness' sake. There has to be a fishy spa opening here soon. I will be patient. Maybe I will email this link to the local spas or something.

Because, c'mon, being nibbled upon by small fish is like the most wonderful sensation ever, or at least up there in my top 20. Usually, procuring this experience involves holding very still in cold rivers and waiting for the trout to arrive. While the wilderness approach can never be replaced, I believe that there could be much to say in favor of a nice warm footbath, with fishies. Hedonism takes many strange forms, after all.

Also, there is the phrase: "full-body fish treatment". Mrrrrrrrrrrrrr. I like the sound of that.

Who's with me, here?

"The fish don't do the job alone. After 15 to 30 minutes in the tank, customers get a standard pedicure, made easier by the soft skin the doctor fish leave behind."

Soft skin that the doctor fish ... and soaking in warm water for 20-30 minutes ... leaves behind.

It worries me about changing the water each time though. I wonder how many of these fish die each day from the stress of being put in new water multiple times a day. With no regulation, the health and treatment of the fish worries me.

As my journal makes clear, I would totally do that.

If you come down to DC, if it's after I've moved out, you can stay with me and save hotel costs at least!

I read an article several months ago about a spa in (I think it was Korea) where you can do full body soaks with these fish for exfoliation treatment.

I think that so long as the fish are not being abused it sounds like fun!

You are insane. That is all. :)

If it was indeed safe for the fish, I would totally do that.

Saw something similar on a discovory channel or PBS show. Some spa in europe or the mideast someplace that had a huge tank/pool of these fish. It is, aparently a really good treatment for certain skin conditions, as the fish eat the dead skin off, without disturbing the underlying healthy skin. Over the course of many treatments, leaves the patient with healthy skin again.

Having never had a pedicure before. (unless having my toenails removed surgically counts) I doubt that I'd spring for this. Although this may be just a guy thing. *shrugs*

I saw something about that on our news this morning. Eek! Gah! And they want you to PAY for the privilege! I would pay NOT to have fish eating me! Augh!
