Preparations
Apr. 16th, 2012 09:14 amThere will be guests and plans; to prepare
I've cleaned the windows and the fridge
I will wash the dogs, of course, and then the floor
and dishes; but before it all, I will start by washing
this cat.
"Which cat," asks Trucker with deep suspicion
as I gather her gently
and head for the tub.
"Why," I might respond, "the lint-colored cat,
the mud-colored cat, so fluffy she cannot wash herself;
the hearthwarm cat who stretches out in the dust
and dirt and ashes, who will be happier less
her layer of grime. Who will be soft and brushed and nice."
"But what if I like my grime!"
"I think you just mislike the soap. Besides, old cat
there will be time enough
for you to gather all your dirt again."
