Yeah, that about sums it up. Jezebel would like to interject at this juncture that her fur smells fine, thank you, at least it did before I put that *stuff* on her with the *water*. Ugh! She works so hard to get her fur just how she likes it, too, which isn't easy since I never let her roll in the really interesting things she finds at the beach.
I've been doing my "2003 spring cleaning" for six years now...
Oh, and by the way: yesterday I contacted the Cornell Lab of Ornithology about that rumor, both in the faint hope that it -might- be true and, if not, then to give them a heads up about the sites. They actually contacted me back, both in email and by phone to confirm that, yes, it was a very unfunny hoax. We had a nice chat and they were very apologetic (though I assured them that I never considered them at fault!) and sympathetic. Very classy organization: I respect them all the more for their response. Too bad: I got really excited for a moment. Maybe they will have real success tracking down an ivory-billed woodpecker.
Oh, thanks for letting me know about the hoax. I got excited enough to repost before thinking, and I am very sorry for perpetuating it. Cornell O. is awesome, and I'm really glad you told me that. It WOULD be great to find that woodpecker again!

My dogs are nasty at the moment. This says everything I need to say about my house.
