Still more on KRXQ!

Oooooh! KRXQ replied to my polite but oh-so-pissed email:

Thank you for your feedback regarding the May 28th and June 3rd, 2009 broadcasts of “The Rob, Arnie and Dawn Show.” I understand the seriousness of the issue, and want to share with you a copy of a notice that has been posted on our website, www.krxq.net.

During these shows, Rob and Arnie made what we, and they, recognize were completely unacceptable remarks concerning members of the transgender community, especially children. Accordingly, this Thursday, June 11th, 2009, the show will be dedicated to what we anticipate will be a forum to promote a better understanding among all listeners of the issues involved.

Vice President / General Manager

I got the same reply, and of course [livejournal.com profile] selasphorus has been keeping me up to date on developments. I have some Thoughts On The Subject, specifically relevant to the station's apparent policy of "it's not hate speech unless our advertisers say it is", but I suspect I should sit on the specifics, at least until I'm sure my tolerance levels are not being affected by my hormonal state. Quite so much as they are right now.

RAWR RAWR BITE REND, in short.

Apropos of nothing, however, I saw some bizarre yet utterly kickass leatherwork and thought of you:
Paw Shoes and Paw Gloves.
Dragon Bag, Dragon Basket and Dragon Mask.
Cthulhu mask.

(edited because I forgot to embed the link the first time. durrrr)
I am so with you on the rawr bite rend. They'd have responded with the 'oh, it's fine, it's humor' approach and added a bit of additional hatemongering on top of it if the big corporate guns hadn't pulled their ads. My happiness around this has more to do with the prompt and significant community action that happened, and, for once, an example of corporate-good citizenship.

I. NEED. those paws. /jaw on floor/ I think I even prefer them to these sezzy paw boots (http://www.fury-fantasy.com/Fury-Fantasy-Wildtiere.htm), which is saying something, and they have the additional benefit that I could actually walk in them. They would look so fine with Mulefoot's mask. wuffffff.

Apropos of none of this, are you doing anything on Thursday, and if not could giant octopus and mega shark be involved?

On that we agree. Regardless of the process, I'm pleased that the write-ins had the desired result, especially with that spectacular cock-up at Amazon.com earlier this year.

Aren't they beautiful? I love [livejournal.com profile] ugly_crap. There's some ugly crap there, to be sure, but most of it is a matter of taste and I've twigged on to some awesome stuff I wouldn't have noticed otherwise. It's because of [livejournal.com profile] ugly_crap, for example, that I own these and may never wear normal shoes outside of work again.

I am totally, 100% free on Thursday, and would be delighted to host a jackal, and to watch a terrible movie (although it would have to work very hard indeed to out-suck "Sharks in Venice"), assuming we can get our paws on a copy to rent. (Actually, you're missing out tonight, since we've got Magnificent Beer-Can Chicken, the grand redneck contribution to world cuisine: 1. smear a chicken with garlic, salt, rosemary and olive oil, ground in a paste, 2. drink a third of a can of beer and stuff the remainder up chicken's butt, 3. throw on grill until awesome. Nom nom.)

You have our phone #, yes? I can e-mail it to you, if not.
