Well worth reading

[livejournal.com profile] rm's latest entry http://rm.livejournal.com/1657583.html?nc=8 is exceptionally beautiful writing about current events and gender issues. So I'm spreading it. Go read. Short and lovely.

[livejournal.com profile] rm is a fascinating person with a very clear way of writing. (I like reading her Swordspoint fanfic.)

That was well worth reading, and thank you for passing it along.

it saddens me to think that as far as women have gotten, it is not far enough.
I feel that the society norms which tells us that women can not trust other women, and can not deal with "stress" in the work force, and we are supposed to be these skinny sexy things, and yet fear sex.
I feel these do not help in fact they just demoralize us more.
I am proud of women who stand up and wont take the crap whatever that crap entails.
I am so proud of my mother who has worked in highway construction since the 80's and she still is doing so today, she still fights the boys club, and at time the girls club, who really expects it all to be fixed now.
I will always stand with women who are real.

Every act of strength and authenticity is important, no matter how small.

Well, for what little it's worth, I try to honor the women friends, colleagues, and so on, in my life, every bit as much as I'd honor the men. I wouldn't hestitate to hire a qualified woman for my lab, and I treat my mate [livejournal.com profile] tacettaur with the respect due such a priceless treasure as she is in my life.

In more personal news, Jackel, I am starting to really get down to the nitty gritty on my California Dreamin' trip. Is there a way I could contact you (chat, phone, etc) that I can discuss arrangements with you?
