oh yeah, Cinco...

As today is a holiday popularly celebrated by getting plastered, I will offer the following advice:

Do not under any circumstances purchase Bacardi's watermelon rum. It is disgusting and vile. If I could give rum to the chickens, the remainder of the bottle would have been poured on the ground in the coop last week when I tried it.

It is the essence of artificial ewww and is kind of like jolly rancher candies distilled and made into alcohol. If that sounds like something you'd like, trust me, it really isn't.

Sorry, I know I'm posty today. Distracting myself from the burn in my legs, pedal pedal pedal. Besides, it's a public service announcement. Not to warn you would be mean.

Augh! *shudder* VERY FEW are the flavors allowed to pollute rum.

Captain Morgan's Parrot Bay - Coconut is quite passable. It's not... RUM, exactly, but then... I'm very fond of rrrrrummmm. And I'm just having a little reminder sample, over ice, and... mmm. It's a good thing, regardless.

Coconut rum is yummy, and I like the Bacardi orange rum lots. But this stuff is beyond awful.

Ooooh. I do love orange... don't think I've had the orange rump. I'll have to try that.

Watermelon is one of those ephemeral flavors that just... needs to be in a watermelon to work.

I like it quite a lot. Mixed with ginger ale is extra nice.

Had I realized it was watermelon when I bought it, I wouldn't have; when I read 'Grand Melon' I thought of Midori, which is my favorite alcamaholy thing, and didn't read the label.

I tried it so y'all don't have to!

Soooo....how drunk were you when you bought it in the first place? :D :D :D

/facepalm/ See, that's the embarrassing question that I was hoping I wouldn't get asked.

...Because not only was I sober when I bought it, I actually _planned_ it. With forethought. What happened is that the orange rum was delicious, so I wanted to see if the others were as good. I'm fond of Midori, and the bottle says 'melon' conspicuously, but the fact that it's watermelon is in the fine print. I didn't see that until I was home with it. So the lesson is also to read the label before making the purchase!

The experiment was notable enough that I had to share its results, though. Orange rum good, watermelon rum BAD BAD BAD BURN IT WITH FIRE.

I bet you could use it as an accelerant if you needed to burn something.

Well, maybe. Bacardi 150 burns like crazy, but, um, it's 150 proof. :D

hah. You would know that.
