I wish the 'Mystique' comic hadn't gotten canned. This penultimate issue is so gorgeous and tragic and utterly wonderful. Just...all of these awful misunderstandings.
Do we agree that Mystique tipped Forge off before she went to make her killing?
Writing Update: I am approximately 80% done with the Excalibur fanfic. (Hey, all, I know I have a bunch of cool new people on my friends list after FurCon; I write variously in Gargoyles and X-men fandoms. Wierd, huh?)
The Mystique issue has helped me clarify exactly how I want to end it. It's becoming less about Sage all the time. Dammit, Callisto hijacked my fic for herself! I will post it here when I am done. The possibility of me finishing it tonight and getting it proofed and beta'd over the weekend exists. I don't think it's quite like anything else I've ever done, somehow, and I'm curious for the reaction.
For dinner I had a chicken mango sausage, and an apple. prryow, quite possibly the most delicious food ever.
And this really kewl meme from Spacebabie. I love the graphic. It's so completely Storm. Yowzers. I'm *Storm*? Nah, not even half...my style is more scruffy jeans and t-shirts, but I'd like to *think* I could do 'elegant.'

The odds that Forge shows up with a big gun (a big gun that conveniently blows holes in walls) just in time are too slim.
And the only people who knew Mystique was coming were Steinbeck and Shepard - obviously they didn't want her to fail.
So Mystique told Forge enough to convince him, and he not only provided her an alibi for failure, but also enabled her to escape at "subsonic speed" and disappear from Shepard's radar.
I have to assume Forge told Xavier, and it wouldn't surprise me in the least if Logan knew as well. Of course Mystique probably told Forge that Shepard is able to watch her pretty closely, so anything said to her aloud could be for the baddies' benefit. Otherwise, Shortpack would get snuffed immediately.
But Rogue - I think Rogue believes it was a failed assassination. I HOPE she does, actually. That way, when she finds out the truth, she'll feel guilty about what she told Mystique, and she'll be more inclined to give her another chance after all.
God. The whole scene between Rogue and Mystique was SO reminiscent of Demona and Angela at the end of The Reckoning.
Of course, I've been saying from the beginning of QUIET that Prudence would be a big part of this storyline. When a storyline begins with someone reminiscing about someone who was SO good and SO pure, tragically cut down doing her duty - you just KNOW something will happen to sully the image. My feeling, since the Steinbeck discovery, is that Prudence was not killed, but was in fact trapped inside of Steinbeck's body (since her power involved being able to do something like that). Which is why Shepard is so "beloved" with "him". Her life ruined, she conceived a hatred for her handler and Xavier himself. (Gee, maybe Shortpack will get off Raven's back now that Prudence isn't such a monument to the job.)
If I'm right, this is the kind of story Alexandria would write. Xavier used me, he destroyed my life, and now he has to die.
Yeah, Mystique being cancelled sucks. I'm abandoning Marvel for good after this. Bastards.
Sincerely, Allaine

I'm not giving up on Marvel...and a few less titles to buy is sort of a good thing, but I wish they weren't canning this one just when it was becoming less of a fluff and more substantial. Sigh.
I love your icon, btw. How very, very sweet. Sabrina online, yay! I need to read a lot more of that comic.
Marvel Sucks
I get more joy out of comic related fan fic than comics these days. wuff...
Gotta get groceries, I think I hear thunder and we are in for storms tonight >^@@^<
Re: Marvel Sucks
Marvel on the executive end annoys the hell out of me too, of course. But to give them the benefit, they've gotta keep the franchise afloat, can't keep a title that isn't raking in the dollars, paying for itself, and making profit. And they know that most of their audience is less...uh...sophisticated? than us, so they keep most of the controversial stuff subtexty so that the wee rat readers miss it. Given those paremeters, they manage to create some pretty decent art, really.
Still, the loss of Mystique stings. I was just really getting interested.
And yeh, gotta keep track of what's happening to my girls. ;D Although for me that's Storm and Sage...the latter of whom...eek! No Hellfire club!
