This cool Art meme thing, abstracted from many others. Modification of the body Jackel.

My lovely boy is gone, racing his bicycle, leaving me all alone. I hope he wins. So what do I promptly go do?

Would you believe...head to the mall, look at clothes and buy a few, and get my ear pierced?

I'm, like, having a Jubilee moment, or something?

Seriously, though, it was fun and silly, and I can curl up broodingly with a Dostoyevski novel tomorrow. I had a good reason to do it; the obtaining of Valentine's prezzies for me laddie. The clothes for me I got at hot topic, because they are more fun than work clothes, which I actually need. And I now have, in addition to the matched piercings in either ear, a second stud in my right above the other one. I've wanted to do it for a while now, and I am pleased.

The sensation of having it done, oddly enough, felt kind of good. It's an aquamarine stud, very pretty, and I better like it since it has to stay there for six weeks.

At some point this year, I'm having the tattoo done. I've pretty much brought myself to 99% certainty, and I've an image that I think I can be comfortable living with for the rest of my life. It is a very simple running jackal, and it will go just above my left hip.

I am drawing up cutesy valentines like mad. I wish I could do the humans better. I want to do one of Callisto. I really like Callisto, but given the story in the preceding post, I'd better, hadn't I? I may even do a Callisto avatar some time; I want to buy an LJ account so I can do lots of avatars and draw my own emotion thingy.

And this neat art meme. Appropriate since I am very much drawing stuff right now. At least half of you out there in my friends list are artists also, come on, take the meme, don't be shy, I want to know. Maly did some cool questions in this.

Maly's drawing-tastic art survey
What is your favorite subject to draw?Animals, I guess, and anthropomorphic versions thereof. Canids. Fish, but I'm too lazy to draw them often.
What is your most common choice in 2-d media?Inked with sumi ink, colored with markers
Anything you refuse to draw?very little, but you guys are creative and I'm sure you could think of a lot more things that I wouldn't be willing to draw than I would, off the cuff-like.
Real anatomy or cartoon physics?Real anatomy, sometimes I fudge a little.
Which is more important - solid inking skills or solid color theory? That would depend on the pic! But I lean towards solid inking skills.
Photoshop or PSP? Illustrator or Painter?Rarely either to actually create, I'm a very traditional gal when it comes to media, but photoshop.
Markers - Prismacolor or Tria?Prismacolors. But I WANT copics!!!!!!!!!
Paints - oils, acrylics, or watercolors?Watercolors, and acrylics when I get off me lazy tail.
Have you ever done a stippling project outside of art class? Not the whole project but sometimes I use stippling to shade, sort of.
Ever imitate a popular style of art? (anime, disney, comic book...)Yeah, all of the above.
How would you define your "style?"Um. Comic-y, I guess. Line art, more cartoony than realistic but ultimately somewhere in the middle.
What is one area of drawing that you need to improve in?Humans. Hands 'n feet. I'm feeling a deep need to do some life drawing and get better on my proportions. Equine faces.
When did you start drawing as a hobby? (we all drew when we were little)I don't remember a time when I wasn't, honestly.
What kind of sketchbook do you have? Brand? Size? How old is it?Canson...uh, standard size? Black hardcover, less than a month old. I vastly prefer Strathmore paper quality but I haven't been able to find a hardcover one, and since I take my book pretty much everywhere the sotbound ones aren't durable enough. Heck, even the hardbounds are pretty torn when I'm done with them.
How many sketchbooks have you had previous to this? Lots. A couple dozen?
How many sketchbooks do you go through in a year?Approximately 3. 4 if it's a heavy year or I'm drawing mostly in my sketchbook.
#2 yellow pencil or a clicky pencil?Clicky clicky. And I have such the pretty one too. I love it so.
What kind of eraser do you use? Those white ones, and those neat gummy twisty ones, but I need to get another of the latter since I lost mine.
Who are your artistic influences? So many. Animation that I like, comics I like. Art Nouveau. Pop culture stuff. Monet. Robert Bateman. Mappelthorpe. Any furry artist whose work I enjoy. The world.
What books would you reccomend to aspiring artists?I don't have technique books. I'd say just look at work you like, enjoy it, breathe it like you probably are anyway. More important to draw lots and lots and lots than anything else, but life drawing classes are lovely.
Do you have any favorite online tutorial sites?nope, sorry
What is the most money you've ever made on one drawing / illustration / painting?$125
What do you hope to accomplish with your art? Do you want to go anywhere with it in life?I'd like to be published in a comic some day. Of course that means I need to finish one. I don't know, I want to just get a lot better than I am now.
Finally, why do you draw?Because I love it and I can't not do it. Seriously. You should see the margins of my legal pads.

I would just like to say that I'm grateful that your tattoo plan isn't one of a butterfly on the small of your back. Seen enough of those to last several lifetimes.

LOL!!!! I could never do anything as cute, fashionable and girly as that. Even in my silliest Jubilee-the-mall-rat moment. ;) Those are *everywhere*, aren't they?

My mom might even like it if I had a butterfly tattooed on me. *shudder*. As for the small of my back, I'd never *see* it!!!! Nope, simple running jackal it is.
