[livejournal.com profile] illucian tagged me for this.

Post up a picture of each pet you currently own (put large pics behind a cut please.) Include their name along with a story or any information about them you wish (age, male/female, breed, where you got them, why you got them, when etc.)

Then tag as many people as you have pets to post this on their journal.

OK, so you want me to list ALL of my pets?????
Actually, I've been meaning to do something like this for awhile. For the sake of effect, I'm listing all the critters who live with me, not just *my* pets.

Let's start with the tiger, shall we?

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Basts Pouncival Titanium Tiger ("Pounce", "Tiger", "Ti") 2 year old male Bengal cat. (Happy birthday, Tiger! He was 2 on the 12th).
Little Tiger is a fascinating cat. Alternately noble and independent, silly, very affectionate at the most unexpected times. Very much a presence in our house. They say that a cat is the soul of the house he lives in...well, this guy pretty accurately captures our active life. He was a wonderful gift from dear [livejournal.com profile] mooncatx who breeds some really spectacular cats.

Magic, 9 year old female Bombay cat.
Magic, on the other paw, is the sweet, extremely affectionate middle aged lady who dosen't quite know what to do with Tiger. My mom got her from a breeder who was getting rid of a lot of cats; Magic is a purebred, but I have no papers. Interesting factoid: Magic couldn't be shown anyhow because she has green eyes; they should have copper-red eyes. Magic's only flaw, assuming you like a cat to be on you as soon as you sit down, is that she drools when she gets happy. Which is whenever you pet her.

Fenris, 12 year old female wolf/husky.
My dear Fenris. I was in college when I got her from a breeder in Red Bluff, CA. I have grown up and she has grown old, but she still has a heck of a lot of spunk. The mellowest of my wolfdogs and mom of the other two, she is the calmest with strange people and dogs. Truly an awesome companion.

Pryderi, 9 year old male Alaskan malamute/wolf/husky
Pryde is my big, intense boy. Beautiful, intensely loyal, shy around strangers, agressive with male dogs, he is probably the simultaniously most difficult and rewarding of my pets. He is only 1/4 wolf and he looks like his purebred malamute father, but his behavior is very wolflike. This often happens with hybrids; their looks and personality are very difficult to predict. A great hiking buddy, a fabulous dog.

Jezibel, 5 year old female wolf/husky
Fenris' daughter by a male who was the brother of my old wolfdog, Chewy, Jez is one of the last of a bloodline I've known since high school and the highest wolf content of my three. The low dog of the three, she is very aware of her status and therefore most unpredictable with strange dogs. (the omega types generally being the ones who try to lord it over others). Sometimes a very serious, sometimes a really goofy wolfdog, always very loving. Silly little beast.

Little Rogue of Earthsea ("Rogue") 5 year old female Shetland Sheepdog
My "co-dog" with Chris. Rogue is the princess. She knows this. It dosen't keep her from being a tough little adventuress who can, for instance, carry her all her own food in a backpack for a week, trek in the snow and pick fights with pitbulls. (why she did this I do not know...) Everyone loves Rogue. Of course, we don't spoil her at all.

Skeeter, 9 year old Jack Russel terrier.
Chris' incredibly devoted, loyal, dear little terrier. Scrappy and tender, he's just an all around nice dog, and I like him a lot even though he isn't really my type.

Gavin, young Green-Cheeked conure of unknown gender.
Words don't describe how uttely cute this bird is. He (?) is just an adorable, friendly, sweet little parrot. Discovered shivering in a tree at a gas station on a snow trip, I was never able to locate whoever lost him, and know what? I'm glad. This is not a great picture; for some reason, I have been unable to get one that really captures his lovely colors.

Guinness, "Ginny", 3 year old male Senegal parrot.
Ginny came home with me a year ago. He is a subtle, intricate intelligence, and I am still trying to earn his trust.

Lady Randell, "Lady", 13-15 year old female cockatiel.
Sweet, dumb blonde. Lady was a "free cockatiel" I picked up while I was in college. She had never been handled, was eating an awful diet and had no toys at the time. She loves to be skritched (she's asking for affection in this pic) and handled, and is an all around lovely bird.

Liberty Moon Dancer (registration pending), "Dancer", Arabian/Appaloosa yearling colt.
yes, I needed a colt like I needed a hole in the head. But when my mom's mare Polly foaled this small perfection, it was immediate love. This guy has a wonderful personality, and I look forward to many, many years with him.

Tami Sue, 23 year old Arabian mare.
Tami is my oldest friend; she has been with me since age 12 and has taught me so much about patience, growth, what joy is and, um, how to stay astride a very sassy Arabian. This is a lousy pic of Tami with Shayna, her filly. I'm trying hard not to fall in love with Shayna, since we are not keeping her. Still, adorable!

Bey Breeze, 20 year old 3/4 Arabian pinto mare.
Aaaaah, Little Bey. Don't let her small stature and deceptively "ponyish" appearance fool you (or this crappy photo), she is a firecracker with an attitude! I have had her since birth, and trained her. She's the daughter of my first horse who, er, taught me to ride the hard way (I can stay on just about any horse as a result, and I survived my chlidhood by virtue of the fact that horsy girls are apparently made of rubber...) and a very hot-tempered Bey Shah son. The combination brought about a beautiful little mare with a very combustible personality. (e.g, a phone call from my mom this afternoon: "Summer, can you come give Bey her wormer? I'd do it, but she tries to trample me. You don't seem to have that problem...") I love Bey. She brings excitement to my life. She's not evil. Just...spirited.

Big Fishtank!
No, I'm not going to name each fish. But my awesome 55 gallon tank has 5 silver dollars, 5 cory cats, a pictus cat named Comfort, 2 3-spotted gouramis and a huuuuuuuuuuge pleco. The silver dollars are beautiful, shy fish that school in really neat ways. They completely decimate any plants in the tank, though. basically, they are vegitarian pirahnas.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
small fishtank...my latest, a 5-gallon hex, heavily planted, really pretty, and hard to get a photo of. :P It has 2 cory cats, 5 cardinal tetras and this nifty, active little fish. I don't know what it is. Do any of you?

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Tiny fishtank. I've had this one since my first year of law school...it was the only tank I had room for. Now it graces our bathroom. This betta, Dragon III, is the most active and prettiest I've ever had. His guppy tankmates are also really cute and friendly. I like them better in this tank than the neons that preceded them.

Gus Gus! 4 year old male figment of my imagination!
For a completely imaginary critter that I certainly don't have in California, isn't he cute? Lookit that yawn! He is very difficult to photograph.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Double Dip, 5 year old sex-linked red hen. Our oldest chicken, very tame and bossy.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
'Cauna, 1 year old aricauna hen. I had a horrid year for chickens last year...after something like 5 years of no chicken turnover, we lost around 6 of them to old age, predation, and a couple of young ones just not making it to adulthood. It happens, but it sucks. :( This was one of 4 aricaunas that I tried to raise, and after losing the first three who I really bonded to, I didn't name this one. But she's a fine, healthy hen now, and quite a looker, and she deserves a name. 'Cauna will do, but 'Mad Eye' would work, too. She lays green eggs, though not many.

Georgia, 1 year old golden laced wyandotte hen.
This gorgeous creature is [livejournal.com profile] lythir's hen, and was a courting gift from me. Appreciating chickens is one of my stringent criteria for potential sweeties.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Trinity, 2 year old bantam cochin hen.
A cute little fluffball belonging to [livejournal.com profile] lythir. Presently broody.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Felix, 5 year old pied Indian Runner drake. A crusty, horny old duck who focuses most of his attention on the chickens. A weird bird.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Josephine, 1 year old Khaki Campbell drake. Unfortunately in his drab winter plumage here, all the ducks are headed into molt. He's a lovely boy, my Josephine.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Napoleon, 1 year old Khaki Campbell hen. Neat duck, great layer. Yes, Napoleon and Josephine were named as wee, unsexed ducklings, and I pledged to keep the names no matter what. Duck eggs taste better and are larger than chickens' but are rarely available commercially, because ducks with their more fragile legs cannot survive the shameful conditions commercial laying hens are kept in.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Spooky, young black Indian Runner hen. Poultry bopping along next to the roadway is not an uncommon sight around here, but Spooky was waddling alone near a busy street with no house nearby. I caught her and added her to the flock. She is hilarious and LOUD.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Fractal, 3 year old female Brazillian Rainbow Boa. She's a beautiful, shimmery serpent.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Delphi Slitherby, 4 year old male ball python. BPs are my favorite snakes. I think that they are cute like kittens and puppies.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Guinness and Ale, Jersey Wooly tort buck and chocolate doe. [livejournal.com profile] lythir's cute little fuzzy bunnies!!!!!!!! She spins their wool and knits neat things out of it, and makes me miss the days when I raised and showed French Angoras. Why the names? Wait for it...because they are full of hops.

Dude. That's really all of them. I don't think I missed any. There, enough pets?
I'm exhausted. If you have a pet, consider yourself tagged.
