Gotta love it.

Come home to a note on the kitchen table from C&L: "Fasting. No Dinner. See you at 6:30."

You really never know what's going to happen next 'round here. It's kind of like living on a sand dune.

Hmm, wonder if I should bother cooking anything for myself? Or perhaps dinner looks like an English muffin tonight. Nah. I'm a jackal, I can scavenge something up better than that.

Also, on a competely unrelated note, almost, Chris is changing his name to Kestrel. I approve wholeheartedly, though 13 years of habit is probably gonna take me awhile to change. So when you hear me talking about Kestrel now, it's the same guy...technically anyhow ;)...I'm not dating anyone new at the moment. Congratulations, Kestrel. It's a big step.

I will probably post about my own name later, but suffice at the moment that I am more comfortable with Jackel than Summer.

....OH!!!!!!!!
Just remembered!
Kestrel caught one of our lovely, small, native tarantulas in the bathroom last night! I was SO EXCITED.

She was beautiful, small (well, for a tarantula...most people would call her a big frikkin' leggy spidah) and brown and velvety. I was thrilled...they are very shy and retiring and it is very rare to see them. I ooohed over her when I found her on the bathroom counter this morning, thoughtfully placed in a glass jar for me by my sweeties, and then Kestrel let her loose. I hope she finds a good place to hibernate for the winter and then has lots of babies.

I changed my name last year; generally there's an initial large disruption followed by a gradual tapering-off of minor inconveniences that just KEEP GOING ON.

Admittedly, Kestrel sounds like a girl to me, but that's just one man's opinion.

I think it was his surname, from Johnson to Brand.

I'm glad you liked my little slice of life.
Also, I hope I can see you at the Celtic Festival on sunday. You'd love it. Make sure if you do you arrive before 3 to see Martin Hayes; he is the star attraction, and quite possibly the best fiddler alive.
