The weather has been hot, but not unbearably so, and I have found myself filled with the desire to find bodies of water and swim in them. Always natural, of course; fie on swimming pools. The abandoned reservoir behind my house and the two deep pools in the stream leading from it are the perennial favorites; but today, I gave into temptation and went to the Russian River for a good long swim. It isn't hard to escape the people by letting the current of that blessed river pull one downstream. Splashing around, playing in the current and basking on a hot rock are all wonderful things to do. I also saw a huge, exquisite salmon, possibly a young coho (not an adult, if she's in the river this time of year, but getting close to being ready to head seaward, based on her size).
I want to drop my car off in Jenner, where the Russian meets the sea, and then get dropped off back in Gurenville so I can swim/float on the current back to Jenner. Very doable, and tempting me right now.
At the moment, water is definitely my element. What, we side-striped jackals are riparian beasts.
Avalon Rising is playing in Cotati tonight and I look forward to seeing them LOTS. Kinda wish I was going with someone, which is odd, since solitude is my natural state, especially for things like concerts...but since that IS my natural state, I am expecting to have lots of fun...and hey, Avalon Rising=good.
