Busy Weekend....
Feb. 20th, 2007 02:06 pmWell, on the tail end of a very eventful week, I've had a very eventful weekend. Saturday it was Pantheacon, the local yearly Pagan shindig. It was a lot of fun, though the programming I managed to catch wasn't nearly as good as last year. I need to pay more attention to that next year; all the stuff I would *really* have liked to have been in on was Sunday. A real high point was getting to play with Danse Macabre again, my old renfaire band. I love the people and the music and I've been meaning to get back in with them for a long time. Maybe now I'll make that happen.
Just as well about the Sunday though, because hanging out with
corpsefairy,
madmanatw and the rest of the Momentum House crew was more fun, anyhow. In the afternoon, we saw 'Dragonwings', a community theatre show that
corpsefairy did the costume design for...adequate acting, great costumes, including a dragon tail that I WANT to WEAR to next FC...even though I'm, uh, not a dragon? After that, we *got to see Jonathan Coulton* in concert, which was just all kinds of cool. Geek rocker par excellance, he was just as delightful in person as on the 'net. (all of which is here: http://www.jonathancoulton.com/songs) He does mostly tunes about mad scientists, zombies and love, often in the same song.
Watching peoples' reactions of amusement to 'Skullcrusher Mountain', particularly those who clearly hadn't heard the song before, was great. Having a whole, packed house doing the chorus of "All we want to do is eat your brains!" was inspirational. Also, he signed a little sketch I did during the show. I should scan and post that. Um. After I scan and post all of my Valentine's art. :( I mentioned that this was an eventful week, yes??
So, I need help, everyone, as I do on occasion, NOT bringing home an African Grey. (I got a chance to play with one at the bird shop in Berkeley, which brought up my periodic insane desire to do so. So beautiful! So smart! Whenever I decide that I really want another parrot, I scrub everyone's cages spotless and buy them all new toys).
So, when I bring home that grey I'm never gonna have, I'm even more so not gonna teach her to say/sing, "Oh I'm so into you/but I'm way too smart for you/even my henchmen think I'm crazy/I'm not surprised that you agree..../
But any of you who have greys or similarly talky parrots, I suggest playing that song at them. It's too perfect. ;D And I mean, parrots DO have hench(wo)men, after all. See also the comment about scrubbed cages and new toys above.
