Cuddly Parrots
Jan. 2nd, 2008 04:29 pmGavin has met Kaya. Though I am being very careful to watch them when they are out together...Kaya isn't that much bigger than Gavin, but she does have a significantly larger, more powerful beak and could really hurt him if she wanted to...it seems like she dosen't want to.
The birds are, actually really, unexpectedly affectionate to one another. I so wasn't expecting this, but they preen and do this 'kissing' thing with their beaks that may be the beginnings of regurgitation, which is courtship behavior in parrots.
I'm glad that they are getting along, and I hope they keep it up. Kaya is really becoming a lot more affectionate to me, too, asking for skritches and generally being more demonstrative. It's cute. It's really, really cute.
Gavin, alas, is still plucked. There are definite signs of feathers regrowing and being left alone, but we continue to watch him carefully.
Of course, there are photos of this. I love my birds...
