Bliss Like Chaos---
I was sad, and wanted a tall, blue collie.
Now I have a tall, blue collie, and am less sad.

It can be disconcerting
to be walking along casually and happen to glance past my knee
to meet
the expressive and polite
laser-blue gaze
of the sheltie
glued to my heel.

Little Rogue of Earthsea---
was Kestrel's little dog, but ours
and then she was my little dog, and she grieved with me.
Now she's her own little dog, comfortably retired.

Jezibel Jackel---
The smaller, silver one
last of the wolves who raised me.
From wolves I learned to love until you die;
