Yesterday's Poem

May I know joy like a duck in flight---
flinging myself from one shining
puddle to the next;  if necessary with
more passion than skill.  It is enough
to be airborne, to need, to love.

rain, cat

May there be, long of tail and whisker,
contemplative upon the hearth
listening to the soft spring rain.
