Took Pounce to the vet today...his stitches are out! Which is great, but the third eyelid had started to scar to the cornea, and the vet had to separate 'em. ewww. It's still all red and swollen and possibly the ickiest thing I've ever seen on a living animal. According to the doc, the cornea is still cloudy, though it seems to have healed a bit...no apparent lesion. Pounce is in great spirits and is chewing gleefully on my arm as we speak. But I'm so sad.

And so a fanfic meme removed from Musesfool. I hesitate to post this because it seems a little self indulgent, but upon reflection...indulge me. Because this information would actually be useful to my writing...I know a fair number of yeh are here 'cos of ficcage, and you can help me improve by feedbacking a little. Please feel free to be critical. Hey, it'll help take my mind off the sick kitten for .5 second anyway. And if anyone comes up with an answer to '4' that catches me, who knows...

I've made a few modifications from the original. Any of the questions can be altered to apply to teh fur art, too.

1. What is/are your favorite(s) fic (or picture) by me? (and why)
2. What is/are your favorite(s) series by me?
3. What is/are your favorite(s) pairings that I write?
4. What is/are the pairing(s) you wish I'd try writing some time that I've never attempted?
5. What is/are the pairing(s) I've written that you wish I'd write more often?
6. What do you like about my writing?
7. What do you not like about my writing?
8. What was the first fic by me that you read?
9. What original character (if any) from me have you enjoyed the most?
10 Would you ever consider reading anything original if I tried writing it?

On the MEME

1) Wow... so many to chose from... ack... can't pick just one!

2)Clan Ties

3) Demona and any of the people you pair her with.

4) It's rich and heady phrasing, the poignancy of characterization, the heated sensuality, the just gorgeous cutting edge emoting... um... it's all good.

5) ... ack... That there isn't more of it! I'm such a SJ fic slut kitty... I don' think there is anything about it I don't like. My mind blanks out at trying to think of anything. Your technical side is precise and elegant, and the creative side elates me to the point of tears.

8) Your Demona/Una fic... Oooo... >^@@^< it was so good...

9) You've put together some pretty great characters, I think your mute Gargoyle was my favorite.

10) Of a certainty. In fact I have read your original fics and they utterly blow me away. You have the true gift for story craft. Top tier professional fantasy quality.

This isn't going to be helpful at all, hey? All praise and not a jot of critical information... can't help it. I like what you do right now so much. gah... m'hopeless *^_^*

On Pounce...

It scarred to the cornea? >^Oo^< oogie...

Poor baby cat!!!! =(

He was able to separate it okay? That just does not sound good at all. Is Pounce on a steady antibiotic schedule? Oooo... >^@@^<

When Ares had his eye poke, my vet had me putting antibacterial ointment into the eye every 6 to 8 hours. Then, after a few weeks of that, eye drops to clarify the eye. And he was on oral antibiotics every 12 hours.

I'm glad there is no lesion. I feel so bad Pounce's eye is still oogie though. =(

Please keep me up to date. I hope and pray Pounce makes a full recovery. I'm just so aghast about the complications. *~_~*

*hugs to Summer and Pounce* least he is still happy and bouncy. Get better Pounce!!!

He's on amoxi-drops 2x a day, an antibiotic eye ointment 4x a day, and another eye drop that dilates the pupil and improves cornea healing 1x day.
The third eyelid looks a little better today. I saw the cornea. It is white...but...no lesion was visible! And I did see some teeeeny veins *on* the cornea, which I think is a really good sign. According to Dr. Palmatier (the *cough* sexy vet), cornea injuries are tough because there's so little blood flow there, which makes healing difficult. The wound has to heal in from the corners, slowly. The reason they stitch the eyelid up is because there is plenty of blood there, and vessels will move into the wound and fix it if the cat isn't blinking all the time.

So little tiny blood vessels near that cornea means it's getting nutrients and may heal well. That's the theory anyhow.

He's not at all in pain, which makes me so happy.

Poor kitty! I cringe in sympathy. It's always hard to see pets hurt because you can't explain to them what's going on.

RE survey-- I havn't read any of your fanfics to comment on. I don't think I've read any fanfics by anyone ever; it's not a genre I was ever interested in.

In answer to the last question, I'd be more likely to read original works rather than fanfic, because reading that depends on knowing the base material, which I probably wouldn't know.

I did really like the story you were running in Yarf, 'way back when, and that was the first thing by you I remember seeing.

Thanks!
I sympathize with your POV on the fanfic thing...sometimes, I step back and consider that it is kind of a strange hobby, but then given all my other strange hobbies, it feels right at home. ;) I don't read fandoms I don't know anything about, either.

I write a lot in the 'Gargoyles' and 'X-men' universes, with a few strays in other fandoms, and have no cause to believe that you would enjoy any of them. I have a pawful of original ones too, of varying quality.

And *cringe* yeah, I remember Kettjara. Poor Kett. I finished half of her story and stopped...with her about to get dumped in an icy river at that! I still don't know what to do about her, because the rest of her story is in my head still. I stopped when a bunch of really major life changes hit me like a ton of bricks, and when all the dust settled it was something like two years later. When I look at the art now, I just....cringe. It was too ambitious a project, and my comic projects are much smaller now, though I do want to move more in that direction.

Having tried to do the comic thing, I am quite frankly in awe at the volume of work you've produced.

1) Changing Seasons I and II. That description you did of Yama and Sora's dance blew me away. Oh and Coming to Ground, I liked the New Olympian twist at the end. They are always good.

2) Clan Ties.

3) Demona and Leo (old and new). I don't know but I just like hopeless relationships like that.

4) Hmm...one that you've never attempted. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say Angela/Griff or Elisa/Griff. Maybe to console him after losing Una in that one ficlet you showed.

5) Demona and Silence

6) The description.

7) The months it takes to get another installment :P.

8) Interlude in the Parlor

9) Silence and Laurel. Well Laurel seems to be kind of a kindred spirit with Elisa especially concerning making the Harpy Queen pay for what she did.

10) Sure I just don't know where you put it.

Thanks, Doppelganger. =) Your feedback is much appreciated.
'Changing Season' is probably my favorite thing I've done, too. In the upcoming-but-oh-so-slow-to-finish 'These Things You Ask', I will be doing a lot with Griff, but in terms of relationships...I just can't say. I do have more plans with Leo and Demona as well.

In terms of the lag time of installments...well, I do my best, I'm afraid. A real life, writing in the X-men fandom and my original fics kind of takes the emphasis off of Clan Ties. Plus I was a little burned out after 'Coming to Ground.' But...more Clan Ties is on the horizon. I have plans for the modern clan, and Silence's clan.

Original fics at this point are kind of on an 'ask and you shall receive' basis. There aren't that many of them, and I'm holding a few of them from being on the net in the hope of eventual publication, which is probably a total pipe dream. One of these days, I'll get off my tail and obtain a website to put all the fics from all the fandoms in one spot.

Again, thanks!

Well your thank you is much appreciated. It was actually more of a joke not a criticism when I said you take months and months to complete a "Gargoyles" fic. I don't really care and I think your fics are well worth the wait. :) Besides who would I be to judge since I haven't written a "Gargoyles" fic in months.
