Saw this on [livejournal.com profile] splodefromcute, fell over laughing, had to repost.

Hey, if a kakapo tried to jump me, I would probably just sit there helplessly hoping someone would remove him gently, too. Kaya and Gavin had best not try it, though. (Although I wonder sometimes if Gavin is actually a hen. Planning on having him tested next vet visit and I will let y'all know).

I loled!

Of topic, but I had a dream about you and your lovely collie last night. :)

Parrots do the silliest things...

Neat about the dream! I'd love to know the details. :) And I am glad to hear that parenthood seems to be suiting you so well.

Lord, poor guy! The wings and the claws... I couldn't help but giggle, though!

Oh, dear. That ought to make American's Funniest Home Videos. Getting used as a convenient sex toy by a hormone-soaked parrot. :>

At least it wasn't a Bald Eagle! (Know a rehabber that had one of THOSE do this to his shoulder. Fortunately, he was wearing his pads at the time!)

Laughing so hard!

He actually said it didn't, just surprised the heck out of him. The leather shoulder pads (and a helmet) were apparently standard protective gear with this bird, and they took the full brunt of the talon-clenching.

The poor camera guy actually came off worse, both for sheer embarrassment and wounds. The eagle, at least, had the decency to not look like he was ENJOYING it so damned much. ;>

*Snort* okay - that was funny!

Poor camera guy. He'd probably be laughing harder if he didn't hurt so much.

Camera guy, by the way, is zoologist Mark Carwardine, who co-authored the brilliant "Last Chance to See" with Douglas Adams. The narrator in the video is Stephen Fry, who is a treasure.

Really, that's Carwardine? I had no idea! This is my first exposure to Mr. Fry, but I already love him. This clip is apparently part of a video of Last Chance, which has to be on my top 5 or so list of favorite books ever.

Sometimes, I feel as though there are great swathes of marvelous things that I am missing. (Hey, happens to all of us). This needs to be tracked down and devoured, though.
