Well, domestic ducks, similarly to domestic turkey, were not bred for intelligence, curiosity, or persistence. They were bred for tasty eggs and meat. While this does not bar the existence of a genious level domestic duck that can open doors and free all the ducks, the chances are not high. You gets what you pays for.
