Corpse Bride, movies generally

No spoilers, but I saw it last night. It had some lovely animation, fun characters, a neat plot, REALLY neat visuals and a cool concept. But it fell far short of Nightmare Before Christmas in depth of story and quality of music. I had much higher expectations for it. Ah, well. Worth seeing.
I am going to try and catch Serenity next weekend. I have never seen Firefly (or Buffy, or Angel...I haven't had tv reception since Gargoyles was on the air and that was my last TV obsession...) but I take...almost all of your words for it, and believe that it is A Good Thing. And hey, catching things like Firefly (and, sobs, the last season of DS9 which despite my obsession with it I STILL HAVEN'T SEEN) are what DVD players are for.
On the subject of media geekery, a meme.

1. Pick 20 films you love/thoroughly enjoy.
2. Find screen stills for each film.
3. See how many of them your friends get correct.
I was going to say that I'd be surprised if y'all have any trouble guessing any of these, but some of them seem more difficult than I would have thought. It was hard for me to find 20 films that I really love, but these all qualify.
(I've listed the ones people got)
1. Balto. Aesthetically, this may be my favorite film, it's just gorgeous. As a movie generally, I love it too.

2. Clerks. Hilarious and profound. It scares me how much this film has informed my life.

3. Princess Mononoke. Words don't adequately describe this tragic and beautiful story.

4. Secret of Roan Inish. Awesome film, and about selkies, how cool is that???

5. Chasing Amy. Very funny and very powerful.

6. The first two stills I found of this resulted in broken links. If this one breaks, I'm not trying any more.

7. Kill Bill 1. I love this film. It's EVIL. Love, love, love!!!!

8. This is unguessed. If any of you get it, I will be impressed. It is an obscure one. A hint, though---think the same country as Roan Inish, but a totally different style and theme.

9. The 'trick question' of the lot. Some of you got that it isn't Aristocats, but a far more obscure film that I like a lot more, Gay Purr-ee.

10. Nightmare before Christmas. Should be obvious to anyone who knows me that this is a favorite. ;)

11. The Fox and the Hound. Has its flaws and its wonderful bits, like the character designs on the adult Todd and Copper.

12. Pulp Fiction. I do love Tarantino.

13. Hopefully this isn't a broken link any more. What, none of you recognize this one??

14. X-men 1. Because I purely love it.

15. Little Shop of Horrors. My real passion is the stage play, and yes I listen to both soundtracks all the time, but the movie rocks too. Even if they cheated on the ending. Faust retold as a B-movie musical with a carniverous plant. What's not to love?

16. Edward Scissorhands. *sniff*

17. Cast Away. So painful. So good.

18. Sin City. Beauty and horror, and a heck of an aesthetic.

19. Trek III, my favorite Trek. Climb the steps of Mt. Seleya, Jim.

20. The Last Unicorn. Not as good as the book, but still lovely and sad.
