Oakland Zoo photos...

Went to the Oakland Zoo with corpsefairy on Sunday, and it was lots and lots of fun. It is a small zoo, but all of the animals have really nice, large, lush enclosures...which afforded some good photo ops. So lots of fun critters under the cut!



This lovely young lioness was snoozing in the grass:


Then she got up and padded over to investigate the other lion, who was still caged:

Tiger! There is a deep soft spot in my heart for tigers.


Zebras! Love the stripe patterns on their backs:


Meerkats. Too. Bloody. Adorable.




An African vulture. Huge and magnificent bird, waaaaaay scarier than the local turkey vultures.


A cuddly, cute alligator! Don't you just want to snuggle with him? I do.


The flying foxes were awesome, and so lovely and alien.


And this one was a very happy boy. Cuteness!!! Feel free to use this as a reference photo, furry artist friends.


I love animals.

I was just at the Okaland Zoo in February. I liked it a lot better than the SF Zoo . . . much nicer enclosures, well spread out.

And . . . yes. Happy bat. Damn.

yeah, the SF zoo seems like a lot of their pens are old, and while some of them are really awesome (and they have lemurs!) some of the critters need a lot more space.
