This is long and obnoxious, but I know that at least a few of you are here because, for whatever reason, you enjoy my writing and I thought that you might care. Also, for those who are writers as well, I am interested in your answers to this, if you'd be so kind.
I don't know how to do a cut-line in a LJ. If you know and don't mind sharing, will you?
Writing Meme (lifted neatly from Musesfool; I'd have her name as a link, but I don't know how to do that either...):
What's the last thing you wrote?
Finished, you mean? ‘Seven Takes on a Seduction’, but it’s not finished because I’m half way through an eighth take that is actually longer than most of the rest of the story. D’oh!!! Finished-finished totally finished would be ‘What Time I am Afraid.’
Was it any good?
I liked it. It could have had more detail, and the end wasn’t fulfilled enough. Thus the eighth take.
What's the first thing you ever wrote that you still have?
Some Blake’s 7 fics I wrote while in high school that ran in print zines. But my mom has stuff from when I was in grade school.
Was it any good?
I doubt that very, very much
Write poetry?
rarely, but yes.
Angsty poetry?
um...*thinks about that*. No. But other people might interpret some of it that way.
Favourite genre of writing?
fantasy. Erotica. Werewolves. Erotica involving werewolves ;)
Most fun character you ever wrote?
Demona. She’s too adorable by half.
Most annoying character you ever wrote?
er. Let’s see, the OC villian in ‘Coming to Ground.’ Alexander Xanatos.
Best plot you ever wrote?
You can argue with me about this one, but the whole ‘Changing Season’ plot was, I thought, my best.
Coolest plot twist you ever wrote?
um. The end of ‘Changing Season.’ With the painting. Or maybe what happens to Matt in same story; don’t wanna give spoilers.
How often do you get writer's block?
now and again. Never terribly
How do you fix it?
Leave the stories and start in on the art. In reverse for artist’s block. Don’t sweat it and go on a hike if I don’t want either. My creative motivation is very cyclical.
Write fan fiction?
More of it than I think I’m comfortable admitting.
Do you type or write by hand?
type. Always. Usually on my laptop
Do you save everything you write?
creatively? yes.
Do you ever go back to an old idea long after you abandoned it?
rarely. Does the backlog of ideas that I have every intention of writing and have for months but just haven’t yet count?
What's your favourite thing that you've written?
Um. ‘Changing Season’ is the best thing I’ve written. But I think that my favorite is either ‘Yours for the Asking’ or ‘The Texture of Her Heart.’
What's everyone else's favourite thing that you've written?
I’m not sure. ‘Changing Season’ got the biggest reaction because, like I just mentioned, it is my best. I’d love feedback on this, you know I love it, baby. Not because I’m trolling for praise, either, but because it would be honestly useful.
Do you even show people your work?
Yeah, it’s on-line, innit? I’m shy about showing people who I know in a non-fanfic context, though. Especially the steamy bits, which I never show people unprompted.
Who's your favourite constructive critic?
That would be playing favorites, which is unfair.
Do you have a web site for your writings?
They’re archived in a few places (all in the personal info of this here journal).
I’m working on it.
Did you ever write a novel?
In process. S-l-o-o-o-o-o-w-l-y.
Have you ever written fantasy, sci-fi, or horror?
Um. have I ever written anything but, is the question. And the answer is yes, if you count the undergrad essays and law stuff.
Ever written romance or teen angsty drama?
Yep. Cutest damn thing I ever wrote, ‘Valentine’s Dance’. So cute it makes my teeth ache. Of course, I then followed it with ‘Texture.’ um, which if you look at it sideways actually qualifies as teen angsty drama, too...
What's your favourite setting for your characters?
Setting? Their own minds, hearts and dysfunctions.
What's one genre you have never written, and probably never will?
hmmm. True crime.
How many writing projects are you working on right now?
Um. I’m not sure...
‘I won you in a card game once’---Tessa/Emma
eighth take/other wings---Vange/Marie
Sheen of his fur---Talon/Xanatos (yes, we look to be on a slash tangent, are we not?)
These things you ask---the gargs fic I REALLY need to finish last year
The medieval gargs AU, which won’t have a title for a long time
The Bone Shard---pseudo-Victorian furry fluff
The Stupid Bloody Novel.
two undisclosed collaberative projects *kicks her co-authors*
Nine*nine*???? *whiiiiinnnneeee* I didn’t know I was working on niiinnnneeee....nooooo!!!!
Do you want to write for a living?
Um, I sort of do...what do you think lawyers spend most of their time doing? No wait, don’t answer that. Seriously, I do have aspirations on professional publication, but not trying to earn my living on writing or art is why I went to law school, silly bunny.
Have you ever written something for a magazine or newspaper?
nope.
Have you ever won an award for your writing?
Princess’ Outtakes challenge; I tied for best, and won ‘Most Erotic’. =)
Ever written something in script or play format?
Yes, the various comic projects I’ve done and am doing. Oh, yeah, I have one of those in progress, s***,ten?!
What are your five favourite words?
riparian, lizard, digitigrade, basidomycete, feline
Do you ever parody?
nope.
What's your favourite thing to parody?
n/a
Do you actually like that thing, or are you spitefully making fun of it?
it would have to be something I deeply loved. I don’t waste time on things I don’t care about.
Do you ever write based on yourself?
Never deliberately, but I don’t believe you can help writing yourself to some degree.
What character that you've written most resembles yourself?
I think, in retrospect, that Lacorne is my “Mary Sue.” Do you guys have any feedback on that one?
Where do you get ideas for your other characters?
My own twisted little subconscious, and life expereince.
Do you ever write based on your dreams?
No, but I had this lovely dream when I was studying for the bar (and really stressed out) about Rogue, Jean and Sage having breakfast at a Denny’s. It made me so calm and relaxed and happy that I think back on it sometimes when I need soothing and inspiration, and comfort.
Do you favour happy endings, sad endings, or cliff-hangers?
Endings that have a cost to them; I like my character to have gained something and lost something by what happened in the text, to a profundity depending on the level of the fic involved.
Have you ever written based on an artwork you've seen?
Not that I can specifically recally, but my mental landscape is deeply influenced by art, and that’s where the writing comes from.
Are you concerned with spelling and grammar as you write?
Only the really gross level, and thank the gods for spellcheck.
Ever write something entirely in chatspeak? (How r u?)
feh! no.
Entirely in L337?
what on earth is that???
Was that question completely appalling and un-writer like?
I suspect that it was.
Does music help you write?
Music, like art, feeds me.
Do you have a weblog or livejournal?
Where are you reading this, dear ones?
Are people surprised and confused when they find out you write well?
I very much doubt it.
Quote something you've written. The first thing to pop into your mind.
“You have...interesting taste.” Lacorne to Leo, in Confession. The only thing of mine that I could quote you. Because it’s kind of my motto. *wince*.
