Grow well, oh thou devil weed...

So, Lucy is a gardener. Since you can't grow veggies in a redwood forest (not enough sunlight), she has three gardens elsewhere, which are now producing really yummy food...thanks, Lucy. I love gardening too, but love a lot of other things more and don't have time or dedication to do it the way she is. I do have a little partly-sunny spot at home, though, and planted a shade loving crop in it.
Now, cilantro is a fascinating plant. People tend to either love it or hate it with deep, firey loatheing, and this is apparently genetic. To people with a certain gene, cilantro tastes like soap and permeates all food it touches....I swear, these people can taste like half a part of cilantro per million or something liike that.
Lucy is one of these people. If I buy cilantro and she sees it, she looks up at me with big heartbreaking doe-eyes. She dosen't even need to say anything. I might as well be torturing puppies.
Now, I LOVE cilantro, and on occasion, I am mean, and not beyond torturing that metaphorical puppy. But I didn't tell her when I planted the ciiantro. Now, it's coming up quite well (for Meeker).
I wonder when she'll notice?

Considering what kind of a spice wimp I am for peppers and such, its surprising how I can put an entire bundle in the stirfry and enjoy it.

Date: 2008-05-20 09:21 pm (UTC)Hon, I know you don't check this site very often. And I told you about the cilantro a week ago, anyhow; I got impatient.
My little bed-o-devilweed is doing well, though. The boarage and peppermint are taking off too.
