OK, so several people on my f-list posted this or variants thereof, and I wasn't going to touch it, but then I thought of what I'd ask for and it amused me. I am neither asking nor expecting that anyone anywhere gift me with anything but well-wishes this Yule season.

ok, so meme. Teh long-winded Rules:

Step One
* Make a post (public, friends locked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) in your blog. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

* If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

* Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ.

Step Two
* Surf around your friends list (or friends friends or random journals) or go to Holiday Wishes to see who has posted their list.

And now here's the important part:

* If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use - do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out; it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf - to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not - it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish and it might come true. Give and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

OK, fun bit. Jackel's holiday wish list:

*Art. Oh my, I loves it when people draw me things. Itty bitty sketches are AWESOME. Of Danielle and Shard is especially loved...other artists' interpretations of them are so good to see!

* A length of black silk ribbon.

* cephalopods. I won't say any more...
...ok I will. A web clip? A photo? A plushie? A beautiful 300-gl reef tank holding a small, thriving colony of sepia bandensis? Really, your only limit is imagination.

* Interesting fountain pen ink. I would particularly like to try Noodler's Zhivago, and of course there is my minor obsession with sepias.

* Disney (and some other animated) movies on DVD. Used is great, emphasis on critter films also great. These are good to have in the background while I ride my bike or draw. I have Fox & The Hound and Lady & the Tramp. I am especially interested in Aristocats, Rescuers, Great Mouse Detective, TLK...you know, furry stuff. Also REALLY want Balto and Gay Purr-ee (I know, not Disney. Better than). I don't even know if Gay Purr-ee is out on DVD.

* Pretty collars and collar jewelry for the shelties. The glitterier the better. (Both of 'em...ok, all three of us...have black nylon colalrs with rhinestones. I haven't subjected Pryde and Jez to this disgrace...yet. Only because they don't often make such fripperies in wolf size).

* Aragorn's bridle from the LOtR movies. OK, maybe not the actual prop, because my horses all have small pretty Arab-heads and take a cob size headstall, and Aragorn's handsome fella wears Size Big. But a replica would be mighty, mighty fine.
(Dancer, just so you know, will not be able to escape the sheltie fate. Rhinestone headstalls exist, and it is only a matter of time).

* There are some things from Zeta I would loooove. If you don't know, isn't worth it.

* If you've a pet parrot, I would love a feather or two.

* Steel claws, about an inch or so, one for each fingertip, curved and moderately sharp. They don't need to be 'finished', just something I can incorporate into a leather glove/arm brace thing. This is part of a costume. If I get these, ya'll who will be at FC may get to see/play with them, so consider that your incentive. If you have any idea where I might be able to get such things, a point in their direction is vastly appreciated.

* Possibly the most impotant, and the one nobody can do anything about, is my mare Bey's speedy recovery from pigeon fever (a nasty horse disease). May she heal completely very soon, may she not foal until she's completely healed, and let this not harm her foal in any way...I already feel badly enough that the little guy is coming in December. Bey is on the mend and definitely feeling better; she is at the tail end of this thing, but I am of course worried sick.

* If you are close with an animal, give her a scritch or a pet or however you share affection, look her in the eyes and really appreciate how special she is and how much you love her. On reflection, if you like, feel free to include human animals as well.

Ninja's second shed tail feather (he hasn't given me any intact ones yet) is marked for you. He should start shedding them probably in January, if he goes with the same molt pattern as last year (which he might not, since that accelerated molt could have been due to the diet change).

I can't wait. Pionus tail feathers are AWESOME.

Oh, and if it isn't twisted to ask: which Zeta things? I own a couplefew, as you may have gathered. (Gracious! They have silicone now?)

oooooh feather! Thank you!

Zeta deliciousness: their new realistic fox. Oh my want. Also, the tentacle one...had my eye on that for a year, and one way or another I think that I shall have it soon.

oh, and it's no more twisted for you to ask than for me to ask to begin with...;D IOW, twisted in a way that I like to encourage in my friends.

You need to look over here then. Seems a bit more useful than the Zeta model. (Also, prettier.) Also, it would tickle me silly to have this on display on a mantelpiece somewhere, perhaps with a few oceanic knick-knacks, like seashells, driftwood, a dolphin statue... and this maybe.

I've got about two-thirds of a bottle of Blue Upon the Plains of Abraham if you're interested :)

oooh, is that the really...interesting and complex thing you sent me a vial of? I actually quite like it, and would use it if you don't want it any more.

Yep, that's the one. I can't make it work properly with my Parker Vector, so you're welcome to it. I'll send it to the address you posted (with an accompanying card!) hopefully by Friday the 5th.

I can also send any further bottles you'd like once you've used this one up. Of all your LJ friends, I probably live closest to the only source ;)

Thanks so much! You are awesome.

The ink works well in my Cross Starlight, although I find that I have to agitate the pen a bit first...that stuff really separates the pigments out quickly. It's a neat color. I'm sure that this bottle will last me a long time.

I think my problem was that I didn't agitate the ink enough before filling, so everything I sucked into the pen was unbalanced. I went through the good stuff first, and after it ran out I was only left with the magenta base.

I'll be sure to send it on :)

DVDs: Have you seen 'Cats Don't Dance'?
Aragorn's bridle: Um, got a link to a reference pic?
Feathers: Ohgod! Let's see.. Umbrella Cockatoo, Molluccan Cockatoo, Alexandrian Parakeet, Gold-capped Conure, Blue & Gold Macaw, and Pacific Parrotlet. Take yer pick... Or all.

And Reid is constantly reminded of how much I love her.

ooh, I do love Cats Don't Dance, saw it in the theaters and several times since at cons. I think that it is one of the three movies that furry fandom has adopted the most universally. (The others being Balto and TLK). I don't have a copy of it.

Honestly, I really think furry fandom has missed something in not being fonder of Gay Purr-ee. Just the title!

...Wait, you have a house full of parrots? Including two 'toos? Wow, how did I miss that? All of those are wonderful, of course, but I do love B&G feathers, if you have any spares. <3 (B&Gs are some of my favorite birds, too... I just know better than to take in a large parrot right now).

I certainly believe that Reid knows how much you love her. You guys are lucky to have each other.

I haven't seen Gay Purr-ee. I'll have to look for it.

I *used* to have a house full of parrots. I ended-up selling them all off to pay the wife's (now EX) debts. She defaulted on some credit cards. I kept a ton of their old shed feathers.

I'll dig up a mailing tube for some feathers for you.

Here is the best I could find:
http://www.lordoftherings.net/media/desktops/brego_1280.jpg

I'm not looking at the facial armor, but the bridle underneath it, which is best seen in the smaller picture (lighter colored chestnut horse) on the far left. With that neat concho and braided leather, awesome.

From: [identity profile] oldewolfe.livejournal.com
Braiding leather is pretty easy. I can get conchos from all over, and the bit just looks like a short-shank training snaffle with a concho on it. It shouldn't be too hard to make.

And you should really get This Book.

oh man...that book looks awesome! It would be amazing to make something like this. I mean, *someone* had to make them for the movie, right?

Dancer wears a very simple copper-roller snaffle, which I plan on keeping him in for a long time, if not indefinitely. I wouldn't need the concho on the bit itself, the ones on the headstalls and the braiding caught my eye.

The only other pics of the bridle I've been able to find are
http://www.decipher.com/lordoftherings/cardlists/twotowers/images/LOTR-EN04263.jpg
which would be better if it was a higher-res scanner.

This is better (esp. on the one Eowyn is leading). I like how there is a browband, but no noseband.

I make all of my own leather stuff. RenFaire garb to motorcycle seats.

Some of the best woven tack comes from Australia and is made from Roo hide. Weird, huh?

I sifted through the feathers today. I selected a big handfull of B&G feathers including a couple of 20" tails. I have tons of Umbrella 'too feathers, so made a little pile of those. Not many good Molluccan feathers, but I did find a few of his salmon pink crest feathers and some body cover. The only Gold-capped conure feathers I have are some tail and primary wings, so there's a few of each. The Alexandrian 'Keet is just a couple of tails, but they're 12-14 inches. And as a bonus there are some pearly-pied 'tiel feathers. Sound like a nice collection for you?
