So, I finally saw 'Serenity.' I definitely enjoyed it, although I got the strong feeling I would have liked it a lot more if I'd seen 'Firefly.' More time spent with the characters would make them more fully fleshed, and make one more upset when...well. The characters were fun and engaging, the setting an appealing, almost Blake's 7-ish dystopic future. A neat twist on the 'adventures of a brave captain and his loyal crew' trope. The scary Reavers really were, and they reminded me a lot of the equally scary zombie-monsters from '28 Days Later'...only, one wonders how, given how bestial and single-minded they were, how they manage to crew complex machinery. I suppose they have a little more reason than the 28 nasties, which makes them a good deal more upsetting, really.

So yeah. Serenity. Fun. I'd like to see Firefly eventually, especially as there apparently isn't that much of it to see.

And on other really cool things to see, how 'bout an awesome, spooky animated music video? I saw this at a Spike and Mike's some years ago and loved it. Listening to the Squirrel Nut Zippers today made me try and look it up online, and lo. The internet is a wonderful thing.

After that, do you need a laugh? This 'funny cats' video has to be one of the funniest things I've ever seen, ever.

I have a new duck! I was driving to the store to get some flea stuff and food for the dogs, and noticed this pretty black runner duck waddling confusedly beside a busy road. There were no other ducks around and no houses nearby that suggested a likely origin. I'm hoping that someone didn't drop her off by the laguna. :( Being a domestic duck, she wasn't that hard to catch. And very clearly a she, given the stridency and volume of her *QUACK*.

Getting her home was kinda interesting, since I had Jezibel with me. "Jez, leave that duck ALONE!" *Jez glances sideways at me, wags, looks at the duck, drools*...

As you can see from the following pics, she has attractive, kinda irridescent greenly black feathers. I am trying to come up with a good name. 'October' and 'Samhain' came immediately to mind, given the month, as did 'Spooky'. But honestly, 'Daffy' would also fit. Her personality is kinda loud, spazzy and goofy but, well, she's a runnerduck. They are inherantly absurd.

What do you guys think? October, Samhain, Spooky or Daffy, or something else entirely? (Having just seen Serenity, 'River' also comes to mind, but I dunno).

So I decided to scan and show everything that I am actively working on right now, other than the Tarot stuff which hasn't moved much since the last time I posted any of it. All of this is in progress stuff, lineart or sketches, no finished anything yet.
