"Dinner" is a term which ought to reference at least one green vegetable, a grain of some kind, and perhaps (the "good part") some meat.

"Dinner" is not to consist of a bit of chocolate, even if that morsel is an artisan orange-grand mariner chocolate from the fancy Sebastopol tea shop. No matter how much I want it to be.

Self control. I can do this. Really.

(If I eat quinoa, can I have two?)

Hey, it had oranges and beans in it! That's almost a fruit salad!

This is good reasoning. I like this reasoning.

It's the same reasoning my mother's used to eat carrot cake for breakfast ;)

What, you mean carrot cake is not a universally accepted breakfast food? SHOCKING.

If an artisan chocolate is part of dinner, then THAT is the good part.

Life is uncertain. Eat dessert first.

Hey, when you find a carrion, you eat the best bits first and quickly. Time waits for no vulture or jackal.

I've never tried quinoa, though I bought some to sprout for Birdy-butt. Is it good?

And chocolate....mmmmmm. I am trying SO hard to be good.

Quinoa is quite good, actually---sort of like a cross between rice and couscous (but IMHO much more palatable than the latter). Supposedly, it's very good for you, too, and it's one of those things you can share with your parrots. (Kaya and Gavin are all for it). You make it just like rice, and it has a neat texture.

I find myself consuming more and more of it, despite the ever-present image of both my current and ex-girlfriends (both of whom have healthier eating habits than I) grinning and just barely containing a satisfied 'we told you so.'

Cool! I'll try it.

Chocolate is a vegetable...

That's the title of a filk song by Graham Leathers. "Chocolate is a vegetable, it comes from a bean that grows on a plant called a tree.
It lives in the forest with its other tree brothers, yes chocolate is a vegetable you see."

Also, Bill Cosby: "Eggs! Eggs are in chocolate cake!" (This is the routine where he decided it was OK to feed his kids chocolate cake for breakfast.)
