My Poor Cat!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oct. 13th, 2004 08:33 amI'm so sad!
My poor little Pouncival was squinting his right eye on sunday, so monday I took him to the vet, thinking it was maybe the kind of conjunctivitis that is common in kittens. (although Pounce has never...and I understand this to be true from birth...been unhealthy.) No such luck. My poor lil guy has an ulcerated wound in his cornea!
The vet cleaned it up and sewed his third eyelid shut to keep the cornea moist and help it heal. He looks like frankenkitty and is in a lot of pain. But the hope is that he will not scar or lose sight. Pounce is an incredibly tough little cat, and wants to do all the pouncing and climbing and frolicking he did before, so keeping him contained and restful is really a chore. He also _will not_ wear his e-collar...I can't keep it on him even with it attached to a non-break away buckle dog collar...but since he dosen't seem to be tearing at his stitches, I'm letting him be free of it.
Wierdly enough, MooncatX, his breeder, just went through almost this exact same injury with Pounce's older brother Ares Love about 2 months ago. Ares made a full recovery. I hope Pounce does too...he has the most beautiful tropical-ocean-blue eyes...
well, wish me and my unfortunate kitty luck.

You are in it for the Lust. Its all about the passion and how good they are in bed. Though you aren't necessarily a woman/man whore, you know your way around the bedroom, be proud of that accomplisment! Godspeed!

Date: 2004-10-13 10:17 am (UTC)I think because Pouncival is so young and healthy, he'll probably make a great recovery, thanks to you catching it early. Best of luck!

*wishes you and your 'baby' lots of luck*
ACK!!!
Date: 2004-10-14 09:10 am (UTC)Well this is awful, I hope Pounce makes a full recovery. He is the healthiest kitten I'd ever seen, never had _any_ baby malady of any kind. *~_~* Except for his momma going into heat so early after his birth, and my having to hand feed him, he never had a drop of trouble health wise. =^Oo^=
Except for Ares this summer, none of my other cats ever had an eye wound, and Ares I'm pretty sure got his from a cat fight. Ares is about 4 years old now, and he recovered beautifully. Afterwards the doc even did a full blood work and everything checked out aces. Ares is a healthy horse of a cat. He's running all over the place.
All my other kits from the same sire (and there are tons) and other dams never had a problem, and the one litter Delilah had previous by another sire are likewise healthy with no eye problems.
It's just so weird that Pounce should get an eye prick, after Ares got his. =( I'm glad you caught it so fast. Since my Ares is an indoor/outdoor cat, I didn't realize he had an eye injury right away, so I'm glad I got him to a vet in time.
*big hug to Jackel and baby cat*
I feel pretty bummed now. =( Please keep me posted.

Re: ACK!!!
Date: 2004-10-15 08:21 am (UTC)Pouncie has always been an incredibly healthy..and *tough*...little cat. And he seems to be taking his injury with aplomb, the energy and pouncing level is only slightly reduced. He certainly fights his medicine like a healthy cat.
The eye...well, we won't know how it's healing 'til the stitches come out..but it isn't draining at all or otherwise looking infected, and that has to be a good sign. I have high hopes for recovery,
Still worried as all get out. 8( I'll email you later...
