Hey all, I'm back.

The trip was amazing and beautiful. We saw all kinds of weather, including a thunderstorm which had us essentially hiking up the mountain into a cloud, and wildlife, including a perfectly gorgeous mother bear and her cub, who unlike most bears one sees stuck around long enough to allow us to observe them for a few minutes. Being there was very fulfilling, healing and excellent, and the place has an enormous beauty that these pictures only nibble at the edges of.

Back home, I am, as predicted, busy and dealing with some very difficult things. As you can probably guess, I took approximately elevendy zillion pictures, and I will eventually share more, but for now, here's a taste.

That is -definitely- Ansel Adams' world! How wonderful that his namesake park is so striking, so much like his photography. Your photos are breath-taking: please post more!

How difficult would you say this is to get to? I'm mostly a day-hiker...never really backpack-camped. But I'd love to see this place someday!

And all of it is made better by dogs! Cute sheepdogs with booties!

This wilderness can definitely be hiked at varying levels of difficulty, but getting into the real high country requires at the minimum an overnight backpacking trip. (Trailhead to Graveyard Lakes is one longish day, provided you start in the morning; there is lots of nice trailhead camping available). A book called 'the 12 oz. backpacker' is useful in learning the ropes (straps?) of this activity, and I am always pleased to talk about it.

Intrepid bootied trail shelties are rather rediculously cute, and make nice companions out there. I am looking forward to Chaos' maiden trip next summer...the big dogs carry their own weight and some of mine.

Great pics, but I especially love the last four.

I love the second picture, The water in the background, how everything in the picture is in the same hue except the blue bandanna, and the expression on the womans face.
it is strong determined, capable and still woman.
and of course the dogs... they are painfully cute.
All of the pictures are lovely though.
