Pictures from Yesterday

Yesterday, it was warm and lovely on the ridge, which is in full spring mode. It was gorgeous, and just windy enough to make sheltie fluff look elegant and windswept...

More glamsheltie shots under the cut, as well as wildlife and wildflowers.
Coba has coat.

Here's his headshot.

Sometimes you take the picture at _just_ the right moment

Spring on the ridge

This may be an Old-World Swallowtail; http://www.butterfliesandmoths.org/species?l=1361 If anybody has opinions on the ID, please discuss.

Pacific giant salamander (a younger one)

A low-flying vulture

Tiny wolf spiders that scurry everywhere in the grass. Crossing the puddles in the trail slowed them down enough to get a photo

Female with egg sac

The find of the day...a wood scorpion! (Uroctonus mordax, which is a great binomial for a scorpion. It's totally harmless to humans, though). The photo does not do justice to the metallic blue sheen to her front parts. I don't find these guys very often, and it's always a treat.

who I think he resembles a great deal. I'm very excited to have him; he's an intelligent and very devoted pet, and is probably about the best show prospect a beginner is likely to wind up with. I don't have any real illusions about being able to finish him; shelties are a competitive breed, and I'm a very amatuer handler. But still, I think there's at least a chance.
I do expect to get him oibobedience titles, though. There's a chance he succeeds in that on the 24th.
