Ah, so much to say about Alex. The question is, how much can I get away with without taking the risk of serious reprisal later on? ;D
Alexandria is wonderful. Posessed of true integrity, a deliciously wry and cutting sense of humor, fierce, capible, deeply dedicated to those things and ideas which are worthy of her effort, passion and loyalty. Beyond this, though, there is an almost shy sweetness to Alex's character, kindness in the way one would have to be kind to create a fictional character like Demise. She is all of the other wonderful things one would have to be in order to create Demise as well, of course, but I treasure these qualities in my friends.
And speaking of Demise, those unfamiliar with Alexandria's fanfic novel 'Not Myself' should remedy the situation. It's X-men fandom, and femslash, and can easily be enjoyed by those who are fond of neither if they value a truly good story. Her writing is superb and only keeps getting better. I admire it greatly, and I cannot *believe* the volume of work she can produce.
It is almost entirely her fault that I write femslash at all, her and her little challenge contests. She's a bad influence, really. I do so love my bad influences.
And she's a lovely traveling companion, absolutely easy to get along with and fun. She came and visited me in San Francisco, and we had a ball. (sharks!! *pet* the sharks!!) I think that she maybe even forgave me for walking her up one end of the city and down the other, getting us lost on the Muni buses and in Golden Gate Park (come on, everyone does that in SF at least once...) and...uh, Alex, did I do anything else on that trip that I should be apologising for?
So what's so cool about Alex? I ask you, what isn't?
