http://www.squidoo.com/amigurumi-cephalopods

I was just oohing and aaahing over this site without any particular plans until I saw this pattern:

http://blogs.philadelphiaweekly.com/style/2009/02/12/fridiy-8-foot-giant-squid-pillow/

I need one, you see. I must have one. I have witnessed and assisted in the making of complex things out of fabric and patterns often enough to know that this is not a particularly difficult one, although I don't exactly sew, per se. Also, fleece is cheap and I'm sure I can find a really obnoxious print. Have to do this.

I mean, it's an 8-foot squid pillow. How could I not? Mine must have a beak and a siphon, of course. I can figure out how to make those.

EDIT: I think I might need this, too. http://www.instructables.com/id/DIY-Squid-Hat/

Maybe I should find a sewing machine.

LOL! I've never made amigurumi, but if I did, I'd make you a cephalopod.

awwwwwwwwwwww. :)

Crochet will never be my thing, but a big fleecy plush squidpillow, yeah, I can do that.

...and if someone were to knit a squid hat, what color would you like it to be?

(Not saying that it'll happen, but... if it did...)

oooooh. I think that clearly if I had a squid hat, it would need to be purple. :D

Check Craigslist and/or local thrift shops for used sewing machines! Or if there's a sewing machine store local to you that does repairs, ask if they sell used machines. If you go new, just go with a basic, bottom-of-the-line machine. You won't need anything fancier. Good brands of sewing machines are Pfaff, Brother, Bernina and Viking.
Whee! Sewing!
Post pictures of your DIY cephalopods!

Heh.
Humboldt squid pillow....
I can just see a backpack too....maybe a cuttlefish backpack. ;)

Been toying with the idea of a Trilobite or Anomalocaris puppet or backpack idea too.
Just have no idea when I'd find the time...
