Boar Song

We find what we can.
clots of earth made live and bristly, we
move damp soil with strong, moist snouts,
taste root and seed, fungus and just sometimes
the sweetness of blood. We move together
companionably, sharp of nose and tusk.
We are more subtle than humble,
uncovering what must be moved.
Fierce in love and comfort, we thrive on what we find.
