I plan to do my best to enjoy this odd holiday of festive carcass rending (something any jackal can get behind) and remembrance of the country's extraordinarily awful history with its natives. This afternoon will involve seeing my mom, but that will be nicely structured, and if I play my cards right, I may get two meat dinners tonight. I'm pedaling hard to inspire greater desire for them.

I've also introduced a new spiritual practice to this particular holiday: I will attempt to spend no money tomorrow (Black Friday) unless it's absolutely required by an emergency; I am absolutely forbidden to obtain anything from a corporation. Let me know if you choose to join me, and have fun nomming on stuff!

I've joined you on that for years. An old tradition of Harmless Gryphon and mine on Black Friday, was to go to Half Price Books. Well after the frantic crowds had gone home.

Was thoroughly enjoyable, and we both supported a company we liked.

Oh, it was! The only problem was that Half Price Books IS a national corporation, not local. Still, the HBP on his end of town was considered a local treasure, so as far as the scale of corporate evil went it was pretty low.

Columbus did have one really awesome local book store, though: http://www.bookloft.com/. It was as much a tourist attraction as a bookstore, but the place was just awe inspiring. We always tried to leave there with a book.

ANYA: I love a ritual sacrifice.

BUFFY: It's not really a... one of those.

ANYA: To commemorate a past event, you kill and eat an animal. It's a ritual sacrifice. With pie.

I am such a nerd. Anyway, I'll save you some turkey. (Don't expect a cheesy biscuit, they're already disappearing and I haven't even set the table.)

ahahhhahahahaha, yes, yes you are. But thanks for reminding me of that line, because it's a personal favorite...Anya is so right!

Also, against all odds, I managed to get not one but two of your cheesy biscuits this morning, and ...wow, nom! How easy are those to make? Bribery could be involved.

That was a great meal and evening...thanks for helping mitigate the post-mom bitterness. I hope black Friday isn't too terrible, and I look forward to your arrival.

Ha. No, that always made me too sad, and besides, I am not convinced that it would be in the best position to know...
