"A woman and her dogs, enjoying a morning in town"

is what one of several old friends who I ran into in Sebastopol this morning said of us.

I don't usually get very good photos from the dog park, but I ended up with some cool ones from this morning. I am really happy with this one, which says everything there is to say about the developing relationship between Coba and Zhava.





A beautifully lit and composed photograph of two striking, well groomed dogs, one of whom is sniffing the other's butt.



This lovely pup is a bit younger than Zhava, a 3/4 greyhound, 1/4 borzoi. They have met before, but Zhava showed him a sliver of tooth and he stayed completely away from her.



This time, they stalked each other a little and engaged in the borzoi stare a bit, but did not engage in running.

Zhava's growth is just amazing. I measured her last night, and she is a half inch taller than Bliss at the wither. Her personality is pretty subtle for a dog, and I tend to favor subtle dogs, so watching that develop has been just as interesting. I adore her. Sighthounds in general and zoi especially---I definitely chose the right breed. (I want a sloughi now, but my friends have about a decade or so to talk me out of that idea).

That puppy is just adorable...he's kind of zoomy and zany, where Zhava is all aloof and skeptical. His owner also has a pure greyhound, and you can see a subtle difference in his lines when the two are standing next to each other. His owner sees a different shape in the head, and he definitely has a couple extra inches of tail (although his still isn't as long as Zhava's). Borzoi have all the tail in the universe.

...Coba is still the fluffiest, and will always be the most obedient.
