siiiiiiigh.

I've got new glasses...which should be a good thing, and it kinda is, they're very cute, but the reasoning behind them...ie, that my vision has deteriorated enough to need them...has me *depressed*. I shouldn't bitch...it's been years since I got checked, and according to the optometrist, I'm still a relatively modest prescription, AND I got away with far less vision damage than most law students. :P Still. *grrrrs*.

Last weekend I rode my first hundred miles on a bike!!!! It was *hard*, but very fun. Not a flat hundred, either, over the mountains...the Geysers in N. Sonoma county. It was gorgeous, all of these steep, sweeping gorges, fast creeks, wildflowers in bloom. Like riding through the wilderness, and on top of the mountain it's like you can see the universe. And the speedy decents...woof. After awhile, your body feels very different, like you're detatched from it. Very distant and remote. I didn't even feel physically tired until the end. It was a profound enough experience that I'm wanting to do an essay on it, and I will maybe if I can get my other projects sort of done.

Speaking of which, I'm facing a bit of an ethical dilemma...I've written a story that I'd like to post to a place where I often post them, (Fem-X for those of you who also frequent there, this isn't a Gargoyles one) but it's a really extreme bit and I don't want to scare people. Eek, decisions! It's a pretty good one, but...intense. And a little creepy. With warnings it would be OK for the site, but it would change people's opinions of me, I think.

wuff.

Gonna go draw some more while I can still see. :P

Since I've worn glasses since I was about 8 years old, i can't even remember what it was like to first get them. My eye doctor keeps trying to get me to do that lasik surgury, but I'm too parinoid.

re. the extreme story-- just post under a psudonym.

Not the eyes!!!

OMG, I am more than a little bit phobic about anyone getting near my eyes. I can barely sit still to let the eye doctor check 'em. I'd *love* to get lasered so as not to have to deal with glasses, but there's no way I could *stand* it.

As to the story, I have a pseudonym I blame the more scary stuff I write upon, but unfortunately I already released the first part of this little travesty...under my usual name. Before realizing that I was going to take it any farther. Ah well.

I think you should go ahead and post it. The Dani/Illyana stuff I'm working on is extreme for me (in the public world, at any rate). Mind you, I'm the odd one.

*pup eyes go big* Dani/Illyana? Extreme? *a small jackal coils around your ankles and stares up intently, panting* *wants*
I love Illyana, though my preferred pairing for her is Kitty. I should *love* to read it...
...but that dosen't assuage my fears via this story. It's the continuance of the Vange/Marie bit I posted and it's sorta...well...vore-y. Eeek. Maybe since you're the site admin I should let you preview.

First part is already on the site, but I keep giggling while I'm writing it. It's hard to write what Dani's doing because we share a name and...well, my mind goes bad places. x.x

Honestly, anything goes on Fem-X as long as you slap warnings on it. Lord knows half of my...tastes...would offend most people, so who am I to cast stones?

A breathless *leap*...

I vote post. That story is PRIME. Dark yes, disturbing yes, but too well crafted to leave in shadows. It caresses the outer edge of extreme, but it is still contained with convention in the summation. It is a fantasy within a fiction, and ever so fitting for the X-men in the tradition of Claremont who has used the folding of dream and desire, blurring the edges of storyverse reality.

I'd say lay thick the warnings and let the reader make the choice to partake or not at their own peril. I can't think it would badly affect the opinion of any who calls you friend. It may not be to all tastes, but those who don't like don't have to read it.

Again, your support honors and humbles me and gives me courage, both to write this stuff to begin with and then to share it. Thanks kits.

I've decided just to go ahead and post 'The Texture of Her Heart' with the appropriate warnings, and hope it comes out for the best.

and *heh* don't I *WISH* Claremont would write in such a vein. ;) Although he did create Vange, one of the acts for which I am very happy with him right now. she's such a minor char that I'm sure she will be gone in a few issues, and I'm savouring her while she's here, but I can hope they keep her around in future stories. Vange is *such* a good character!!! Goth mutant dragon lawyer! Purr! *love the Vange*!!!

mmm, no accounting for taste. I've always been a large-predator type a gal, meself. Primates never did do much for me. ;)
