Photopost: Earliest Spring

The Earth turned, the weather changed. We will have more hard storms and cold times, I'm sure, but spring has come here even if things haven't started growing yet. Have some pictures.

A visitor came courting (you can tell by his swollen palps). Good luck, fella.

I have the least photogenic cats ever. Trucker really does look like a pile of laundry lint made feline, but Nocturne is a lot cuter in person. They are totally pear-shaped; I decreased their food and they look better now.
I miss Bagheera, but his people came and retrieved him, which is a good thing for a cat. Hope he's happy.

Magicat has claimed my art box.

Dogs on a sit-stay

They are still on a sit-stay. Those can (and should) last awhile.

Dog, dog in woods

I get funky with the camera angle and Rooster swims. Have fun brushing that when all the coat's grown in, Kyn.

Is Coba.

The light was so pretty, I'm sad it wasn't in focus.

Rooster

has a snout!

Also, he swims.

Luck has expressions. It's a border collie thing.

Is still Coba. The unmatched brown flecks in his irises makes him look a bit mad-eyed; I kinda love it.

Beautiful slimy yellow fungus on rotted wood, I love you.

Dogs.

Lassie on a black and white screen

Oh wait, he's a merrrrrle

Coba head profile + copious floof

Yellow emerges. I didn't do anything with the saturation; the photos are, if anything, less vivid than the reality.

Banana slug slides quietly through the forest

And red fungus!

This hen was given to me by a guy who was going to give her to the feed store; she's old and so not worth anything. She has been laying for me just fine given the time of year, though. She's a pretty bird and I like her; my chickens are more pets than utility, anyway. There have been no further raccoon losses since I reinforced my coop, yay!

Date: 2011-01-28 12:13 am (UTC)Few things make Lionel (who looks much like a less-snouty Rooster) crazy like sticks.
Water, however, is for saving people from, not swimming in.

Date: 2011-01-28 01:22 am (UTC)It's funny, the background photo on my work computer is Coba. I call him the cupcake dog as he's so poofy. It makes me happy to see him. :)

Date: 2011-01-28 06:20 pm (UTC)I love salamanders; the season is already well under way here. I like to (carefully) turn over bits of bark and look for them, and right now almost all of the likely habitat seems occupied. Right now, there are so many baby ensatinas, and they are so cute! California slenders are the other common ones. I see the giant Pacifics a couple of times a year...there was a magnificent one in my woodpile last spring...and those guys are always a thrill.
